To defend Truth and to Reveal The Truth

Christians are follows of Jesus Christ and are identified with Jesus’ Death and Resurrection. Jesus said there were Two Commandments,

The Most Important Commandment
34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they thought up a fresh question of their own to ask him. 35 One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”
37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’* 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’* 40 All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” NLT

The Law and the Prophets hang on the two commandments to love God supremely and to love neighbor as self. God’s people do not have to learn a list of rules or face prophetic judgment. We have to let God plant His love so deep within us that we respond to every situation in love, seeking God’s will and the best for the other person(s). Acting in self-giving love is obeying God. As we act in love, we will fulfill the Law’s deepest demands (5:17).

MATTHEW 22:37-40
Discipleship, Neighbor Love—Christian love is the active, vitalizing power necessary in Christian living. Jesus’ command to love God is directed primarily to the will rather than the emotions. It means to esteem God, to regard Him above all else, to give Him unchallenged first place, and to give His claims unquestioned priority. This love means, likewise, to esteem all that God esteems, to love what God loves to the extent not only of doing but of being. Our lives are to radiate Christ’s love continuously. Christian relationships must be built on love; Christian fellowship must be maintained in love; and Christian service must be motivated by love. Love, of its own nature, produces the fruits of Christian devotion and service. The love Jesus commands eliminates injustice in human relations. It fulfills the law by abstaining from all that law forbids. See Ro 13:10. Jesus states that the twofold love commandment fulfills “the Law” and “the Prophets,” which when combined indicates the whole Old Testament.

I’m having a problem connecting the dots and your reference to Jesus’ commandments.

"me, me, me, me, me, me, me..." (as my hand is frantically waving in the air)"...please pick me..."

Seriously? Is this really necessary?

Anonymous,

The Power of Two, my Wife and I wanted to shed some Light on how hese “Baptist Identity” people listed here, come across in their witness on these Blogs. Peter Lumpkins is the one that coined the phrase “Baptist Identity”. Volfan007 / David Worley follows Peter around in displaying this same way of showing His Heart in all Things. Their Blog’s and Comment’s Speak for themselves for all to read on the various Blogs.

And with that I am,

Wayne,

Sorry, Wayne. I cannot take credit for "Baptist Identity." I'm not sure who coined it. If I did do so, do you have a link to it? Actually, I'd be interested to know.

I must plead guilty, however, to coining "Enid" which, in shorthand fashion, summarizes Wade Burleson & Ben Cole's dissent movement from historic Baptist belief.

Grace. With that, I am...

Peter

Peter,

I don’t agree with you about Wade Burleson and Ben Cole dissent from historical Baptist Belief.
BELIEF:
1. acceptance of truth of something: acceptance by the mind that something is true or real, often underpinned by an emotional or spiritual sense of certainty
belief in an afterlife

2. trust: confidence that somebody or something is good or will be effective belief in democracy

3. something that somebody believes in: a statement, principle, or doctrine that a person or group accepts as true
4. opinion: an opinion, especially a firm and considered one
5. religion religious faith: religious faith

Peter, I agree That Ben is having a hard time getting over the wrongs that he sees in Dr Patterson. Some of these wrongs that Ben Knows and sees, I happen to agree with Ben Cole.
Now you know I’m a Food for Thought Man and Wade Burleson gives lots of food for Thought. I don’t think if you listen to Wade's Sermons you can find anything wrong or different than the Baptist Belief. As Cb Scott says I believe Brother Wade was Ragging on What is going on in SBC Circles and reporting a lot of Truths that are being Hidden in Back Rooms. As they say, Truth Hurts and Some People, you included have a Problem with the Truth.

The e-mail I sent you Shows That after Preaching for 50 years that the Holy Spirit has finally Shown Dr Charles Stanley the Truth of Predestination and the Lamb’s Book of Life of which I have shared here on these Blogs.

There are others besides the "Baptist Bluster Brigade" who are part of the Identity movement. The more extreme elements of this movement are pretty scary in some of the things they say, but there are reasonable advocates of "Convictional Baptist" positions who should not be lumped in with others.

Dave Miller said...

This BI movement is obviously flawed. Proof #1 - they NEVER accurately represent those they argue against. They create fictional beliefs and then argue against them.

I am not a great fan of Mr. Burleson (I cheered when he lay down his keyboard recently), but the idea that he has dissented from historic Baptist belief is so twisted it defies the imagination.

To dissent against the policies of the IMB BoT is now dissent from historic baptist principles?

That is classic BI argument. Attack opponents by assigning to them fantasy beliefs which you can knock down.

We have discovered another person for the Baptist Identity People List while visiting Brother Dr. Bart Barber’s Blog here:

https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=5643342666676162215&postID=4748573941981067476

This man has more comments deleted on Blog’s than any other that I have seen. Just read his comments that are still available and you can draw your own conclusion. His name is Charles Page and like the others on the list need Our Prayers that they see the Love of Jesus Christ and change their HEARTS

Wayne,

Charles Page (watchingHISstory) is not in the BI movement.

He has been exposed on many blogs, most recently on Wades, that he only likes to discuss perverted sexual subjects. That is why he is commentin about the minister caught in Texas.

See the comments about him at Wade's blog. According to the people on Wade's blog, he apparently is a sickly perverted person:

http://kerussocharis.blogspot.com/2008/03/problem-of-predator-in-pulpit-in-sbc.html

For teh sake of your credubility, he should not be on your list.

Anon to avoid him coming after me online and hijacking my blog like he has others.

I agree with your analogy between the 2 groups you mentioned (Baptist Bluster Brigade and Convictional Baptist).

I like your choice of calling/naming them the Baptist Bluster Brigade as that would be a better name for this Group. We will have to consider changing the name to the Baptist Bluster People.
I read and enjoyed your Blog and I notice that you also had a frequent visitor by the name of Charles Page. Maybe I should move his name to the Top of our List.

Anonymous,

Charles Page is acting just like the predators that he is commenting about, stalking on the Blogs. All those, on our list, speech for themselves in their comments. We are just trying to Shed some Light on these People.

Wayne,

In all fairness, I don't think you should lump Charles Page in with these other folks. I do not find much common ground with them and find their rhetoric excessive, but they are nothing like Charles Page.

Charles is not in the Baptist Identity movement. He is just a man who is overcome with anger against Adrian Rogers and Bellevue Baptist church. He acts out of anger, not out of theological conviction.

No matter who wrong I think they might be about some things, Peter and David are in no way in the same class as Charles.

Wayne Smith said...

Dave, I took your suggestion and removed Charles Page from the List.
He seemed to be linked to the Grave Chasers that bring dishonor at funerals.

Boy you talk about pastors being raving lunitics, these pastor really take the cake. Peter and Volfan007 spread their silly, stupid comments all over the place.
Their latest is on SBC Today’s Interview with Pastor Les Puryear and the subject of Calvinism doctrine of faith and predestination: the religious doctrine of John Calvin, which emphasizes that salvation comes through faith in God, and also that God has already chosen those who will believe and be saved. These 2 pastors have no idea about GRACE and God.

Anonymous,
See our new post on walking in the Spirit and you can see Peter Lumpkins has no understanding of God’s Grace.
